Pundit: This is my one major problem with Man United defender Eric Bailly
Garth Crooks explains the one aspect which worries him about Eric Bailly's game at Manchester United
Garth Crooks has admitted that his one major concern about Eric Bailly at Manchester United this season is the speed at which he flies into tackles.
The Ivorian defender has been a regular fixture in the Red Devils’ team this season since his arrival at Old Trafford from Villarreal in the summer transfer window.
Bailly has made 14 Premier League appearances for Manchester United this season as he bids to help the Red Devils secure Champions League qualification for next season.
The defender helped Manchester United keep a clean sheet in their 2-0 win over Watford at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.
However, Crooks has singled out the one aspect of Bailly’s game which concerns him.
Writing in his column for BBC Sport, Crooks said: “My problem with Bailly is he goes into tackles at such speed he leaves no margin for error and always appears to run the risk of being cautioned or dismissed.
“That said, the boys I spoke to on the train were right – Bailly was composed on the ball and measured in the tackle against Watford.
“It’s always a pleasure talking to genuine football fans who actually know their stuff.”
Manchester United are currently gearing up for their Europa League clash against Saint-Etienne on Thursday night as they bid to take a step closer towards the last 16 of Europe’s second tier club competition.
