Pundit tips Man United star to leave in the summer transfer window
Garth Crooks is expecting Juan Mata to leave Manchester United in the summer transfer window
Garth Crooks is expecting Juan Mata to be sold by Manchester United in the summer transfer window.
The Spanish playmaker has been in good form for the Red Devils this season despite his future having come into question following the appointment of Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford last summer.
Mata once again proved his importance to Manchester United on Saturday when he scored the Red Devils’ opening goal in their 2-0 win over Watford at Old Trafford in the Premier League.
However, the Spaniard was once again substituted in the second half against the Hornets at Old Trafford.
And Crooks feels that it won’t be long before Mata is shown the exit door at Old Trafford by Mourinho – just like he was at Chelsea back in January 2014.
Writing in his column for BBC Sport, Crooks said: “You think at this point it’s only a matter of time before Mourinho moves Mata on once more.
“Not only does Mourinho mess the Spaniard about with tactical substitutions that only he understands – and at moments in the game that seem insignificant – Mata always seems to rise above it.
“It has got to the stage where not only has Mata displayed remarkable professionalism, he is now playing as well for United as he did when Mourinho decided to sell him at Chelsea – which rather suggests to me that he has become saleable again and therefore may be the first in Mourinho’s cull come the end of the season. Watch this space.”
Manchester United are currently gearing up for their Europa League clash with Saint-Etienne on Thursday night.
