Rio Ferdinand: Arsenal can go unbeaten for the rest of the season
Rio Ferdinand believes Arsenal have what it takes to go unbeaten for the rest of the season
Rio Ferdinand has claimed that Arsenal have what it takes to go unbeaten for the rest of the season – if they lay down a marker by knocking Bayern Munich out of the Champions League.
The north London side have struggled to produce consistent form in recent weeks but returned to winning ways in the Premier League with a 2-0 victory over Hull City at The Emirates on Saturday.
Arsenal are now gearing up for their crunch Champions League clash with Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday night as they bid to reach the quarter-finals of Europe’s elite club competition for the first time in six years.
The Gunners are currently fourth in the Premier League table as they look to secure their spot in the Champions League for next season.
Former Manchester United defender Ferdinand feels that Arsenal have what it takes to stay unbeaten for the rest of the campaign due to the quality at Arsene Wenger’s disposal at The Emirates.
Writing in his column for The London Evening Standard, Ferdinand said: “This game could lay the foundation for the back end of the season.
“If they win this tie, Arsenal have the potential to go unbeaten for the rest of the campaign with the players they’ve got.
“They will be putting a huge marker down if they knock Bayern out. On their day they can beat anyone, the question is whether they can do it over two legs?
“Consistency is the issue that always surrounds this team.”
