Kante was one of Chelsea’s standout players during their 1-1 draw with bitter rivals Liverpool in the Premier League on Tuesday night as Antonio Conte’s side edged a step closer to the top-flight crown.
Brazil international David Luiz broke the deadlock for the visitors before Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum equalised with a close-range header in the second half at Anfield.
Chelsea signed Kante in a £34m deal from Premier League champions Leicester City in the summer transfer window after the defensive midfielder played a key role in the Foxes’s success last term.
Speaking to BT Sport after Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with Liverpool on Tuesday night, Ferdinand spoke in glowing about Kante’s performance at Anfield.
“I don’t think we thought we’d ever seen anyone close to Claude Makelele, but he’s the nearest you’re going to get. Makelele was a super-intelligent footballer,” Ferdinand said.
“This guy is the same, he’s like a rash. He covers ground so quickly and when he’s around you he just nicks the ball and passes it to another Blue shirt.
Chelsea will host title rivals Arsenal in their next Premier League game at Anfield on Saturday afternoon when the Blues will have the chance to move 12 points clear of the Gunners.
