Rio Ferdinand: This Liverpool star’s influence is unquestionable now

Rio Ferdinand singles out Sadio Mane for special praise after Liverpool's 2-0 win over Tottenham

Rio Ferdinand singled out Sadio Mane for special praise after his man of the match performance in Liverpool’s 2-0 Premier League win over Tottenham on Saturday.

The Senegal international scored twice in two first-half minutes to set the Reds on their way to victory over the Lilywhites at Anfield.

Liverpool produced a brilliant attacking display in the first half as Jurgen Klopp’s men underlined their status as top-four contenders.

Mane’s display meant that he was named man of the match, and former Manchester United defender Ferdinand was hugely impressed by the summer signing.

Speaking to BT Sport after Saturday’s game, Ferdinand said: “Mane’s influence on this team is unquestionable now.

“He was away for the period when they lost a lot of games. He’s come back now and is back in his groove.”

Ferdinand added: “This was an opportunity for Spurs to put a marker down and they failed miserably.”
