Ryan Giggs replies when asked if Real Madrid star will join Man United

Ryan Giggs plays down talk of Gareth Bale securing a transfer from Real Madrid to Manchester United any time soon

Ryan Giggs does not expect Gareth Bale to quit Real Madrid to join Manchester United any time soon.

The Wales international has developed into one of world football’s top attacking talents in recent seasons following his big-money transfer to Real Madrid from Tottenham Hotspur back in 2013.

Bale has long been touted as a possible transfer target for Manchester United, and the attacker was linked with a move to Old Trafford before he ended up signing for Real Madrid.

However, although his compatriot Giggs believes that Manchester United fans would love to see Bale move to Old Trafford, the Red Devils legend can’t envisage the transfer happening any time soon.

Giggs told BBC Sport: “He looks happy at Real Madrid. I don’t think he’s going anywhere at the moment.

“From a fan’s point of view, it would be great to see him back in the Premier League.

“The United fans would love to see him at Old Trafford. You talk about the big clubs and United is up there.

“While he’s happy there [Madrid], I can’t see him leaving.”

Manchester United are currently preparing for their Europa League last-32 clash against Saint-Etienne on Wednesday night as they bid to book their place in the next round.

The Red Devils will take on Chelsea in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup after beating Blackburn 2-1 on Sunday.
