Ryan Giggs: Why Zlatan Ibrahimovic reminds me of Man United legend
Ryan Giggs draws comparisons between Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Eric Cantona at Manchester United
Ryan Giggs has drawn comparisons between Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Eric Cantona following the striker’s superb start to life at Old Trafford.
The 35-year-old striker has earned plenty of praise for his performances for the Red Devils following his arrival at the club from Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer last summer.
Ibrahimovic has already scored 24 goals in all competitions for Jose Mourinho’s men to prove that he is still more than capable of cutting it at the top level.
The Swedish forward will be hoping to help guide Manchester United to a treble trophy haul of EFL Cup, Europa League and FA Cup in his first season in charge at the club.
And Giggs admits that he sees similarities between Ibrahimovic and Manchester United legend Cantona.
Giggs is quoted as saying by The Daily Express: “I think there’s similarities because of that confidence they have in their own ability and the goals that they have scored.
“It didn’t faze Eric or Ibrahimovic coming to United and being the number one player.
“Even when they are playing well and getting all the adoration, they don’t get carried away.
“It’s their job and you can see that he is a good professional, he is always fit and at his age to play centre-forward and to produce the goals he is producing is unbelievable.”
Manchester United are currently gearing up for their Europa League clash against Saint-Etienne on Wednesday night as they bid to reach the last 16.
