Steven Gerrard makes honest admission about Chelsea star

Steven Gerrard praises John Terry's professionalism following his lack of playing time with Chelsea this season

Steven Gerrard has praised John Terry’s professionalism and the way he has dealt with his lack of playing time at Chelsea this season.

The Blues skipper has seen his playing time severely restricted this season following Antonio Conte’s appointment as the club’s new manager back in the summer.

Terry has been limited to just four Premier League starts for Chelsea so far this season and has been forced to watch from the sidelines for much of the campaign as the Blues established themselves as the firm favourites to win the title.

The Chelsea captain will be hoping to feature more regularly in the closing stages of the season as the Blues look to win the title this term.

However, Gerrard feels that Terry deserves praise for his professional attitude this season under new boss Conte, despite his lack of playing time.

Speaking to BT Sport on Tuesday night, former Liverpool captain Gerrard said: “His professionalism and the way he’s behaving is a credit to him.

“It would be easy for John to spit his dummy out, misbehave and complain in the media.

“But he’s getting his head down and working hard. He’s ready, if he’s called upon.”
