Steven Gerrard reacts to Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Tottenham

Steven Gerrard was a happy man after watching Liverpool secure victory over Tottenham at Anfield on Saturday...

Steven Gerrard praised Liverpool’s “sensational” first half performance as the Reds returned to winning ways in the Premier League with an impressive 2-0 victory over Tottenham at Anfield.

Liverpool had not won a game in 2017 heading into Saturday’s clash but dominated the opening exchanges on Merseyside as Sadio Mane’s quick-fire double in the first half inspired the home side to the three points.

The result lifted Liverpool back into the top four in the Premier League and above Manchester United, who earlier beat Watford 2-0 at Anfield.

Former Liverpool captain Gerrard was thrilled with the Reds’ first-half display at Anfield and was delighted by what he saw from Jurgen Klopp’s men.

Speaking to BT Sport, Gerrard said: “They were brilliant and sensational all over the pitch. Spurs were second best.

“Liverpool were first best all over the pitch, all afternoon.

“The performance in the first 45 minutes was sensational today, then they managed the game very well in the second half. But Spurs have got a lot of questions to answer.”
