Steven Gerrard replies when asked what he would do about Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez situation
Steven Gerrard urges Alexis Sanchez to commit his future to Arsenal by signing a new contract
Steven Gerrard says he would sign a new Arsenal contract if he was in Alexis Sanchez’s boots.
The Chile international’s future has been a relentless source of speculation in recent months after he entered into the final 18 months of his contract at The Emirates.
Sanchez’s current deal is due to expire in the summer of 2018, and although there is yet to be any official confirmation from the club, Arsenal are thought to be in talks about extending his contract.
It remains to be seen whether Sanchez will commit his long-term future to Arsenal and sign a new deal with the Gunners.
But former Liverpool captain Gerrard has urged the Chilean to sign a new deal and underline his commitment to the north London side.
Asked if he would sign a new contract at Arsenal if he were Sanchez, Gerrard told BT Sport: “Yes, I would.
“He’s in good form and it seems like he’s happy. He’s playing well. If you’re Arsenal, you give him what he wants. He’s a world-class footballer and he’s that type of player that can be the difference for Arsenal in the big games, and for me those players are very hard to sign.”
Sanchez will be expecting to feature for Arsenal when the Gunners taken on Bayern Munich in the Champions League last 16 on Wednesday night in Germany.
