Steven Gerrard: This is what John Terry told me has changed at Chelsea this season
Steven Gerrard discusses what has changed for Chelsea this season under new boss Antonio Conte
Steven Gerrard says Antonio Conte has brought a more tactical approach to the game this season following his appointment at Chelsea in the summer.
The Italian coach has earned plenty of praise for his side’s brilliant start to the season following his arrival at the west London club as Jose Mourinho’s permanent successor.
Chelsea are currently flying high at the top of the Premier League table having established themselves as the firm favourites to win the title this season.
The Blues have made themselves the team to beat in the top flight this season under their new boss.
And Gerrard has revealed that Terry told him that a focus on tactics is the main thing that has changed under Conte at Chelsea this season following Mourinho’s sacking last season.
Speaking to BT Sport before Chelsea’s 1-1 draw at Liverpool on Tuesday night, Gerrard said: “John Terry told me that the difference between Mourinho and Conte is tactics.
“They do a lot more tactics and it was a lot lighter under Mourinho, but with Conte it’s tactics every single day and it becomes second nature to them.”
