Steven Gerrard reveals his admiration for Jose Mourinho at Manchester United this season

Steven Gerrard has spoken of his admiration for Jose Mourinho and is backing the Portuguese coach to bring success to Manchester United.

The former Chelsea manager was appointed as the Red Devils’ new boss last May after Manchester United finished fifth and won the FA Cup last season.

Mourinho has been tasked with steering Manchester United back into the Champions League this season after the Red Devils missed out on a top-four spot last term.

It has been a mixed start to the new campaign for Mourinho, with Manchester United currently sixth in the table as they bid to break back into the top four this term.

However, former Liverpool captain Gerrard has admitted that he is a big admirer of the Portuguese coach and is expecting the manager to bring success to Manchester United.

Speaking on BT Sport on Saturday night, Gerrard said: “What he does is create a winning mentality.

“He wins big games, he brings silverware to whichever club he goes to.

“That’s what Manchester United are about – winning silverware.”
