Ian Wright states his prediction for Wolves v Chelsea
The former Arsenal striker can't see past a Chelsea win even if Antonio Conte's fields a second-choice side
Ian Wright is confident Chelsea will ease past Wolverhampton Wanderers in the FA Cup even if Antonio Conte fields a second-choice side.
The Blues are sitting eight points clear of second-placed Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table despite a disappointing 1-1 draw with promoted side Burnley at Turf Moor last time out.
The west London side were 4-0 winners against Championship side Brentford in the previous round thanks to goals from Pedro Rodriguez, Michy Batshuayi, Willian and Branislav Ivanovic.
Wolves secured a Premier League scalp in the fourth round after Paul Lambert’s side were surprise 2-1 winners against Liverpool at Anfield.
Speaking to The Sun Goals podcast ahead of this weekend’s FA Cup fixtures, former Arsenal striker Wright is confident that Chelsea will edge one step closer to completing the domestic double.
“Whatever team Chelsea put out, it’s going to cause Wolves problems. The best thing about this for Wolves is they’re at home and they can have a go at Chelsea. They’ve got bigger fish to fry to make sure they keep people fit enough to finish this Premier League campaign,” Wright said.
“Saying that, the players that Chelsea have to come in will be brilliant and look to prove themselves. I’m going to go with Chelsea to win.”
Chelsea won the Premier League title in 2014-15 under Jose Mourinho before the west London side finished in tenth place in the table.
The Blues signed five players in the summer transfer window.
