Zlatan Ibrahimovic sends Man United warning to Chelsea in title race
Zlatan Ibrahimovic says Manchester United still have a chance of catching Chelsea in the race for the title
Zlatan Ibrahimovic has confidently claimed that Manchester United are still in with a chance of catching Chelsea in the race for the Premier League title this season.
The Red Devils returned to winning ways on Sunday afternoon with a convincing 3-0 win over Leicester City as Jose Mourinho’s men responded after three successive draws in the top flight.
Despite the win, Manchester United still remain in sixth place in the Premier League table and 14 points behind leaders Chelsea.
It seems unlikely that the Red Devils would be able to catch Antonio Conte’s title favourites in the race for the Premier League trophy this season.
However, Ibrahimovic has insisted that Manchester United have not given up hope of winning the title this season, as they first focus on breaking back into the top four.
Speaking to Manchester United’s website, Ibrahimovic said: “We are working hard and we really want to reach the top four and the Champions League.
“To be champions, it will be hard but this is our aim and we don’t give up.
“I think we are back in the hunt. It was a big gap a couple of months ago but it is smaller now.
“We have been our own enemy. If we had won our games and got the points we should have got, the situation would have been totally different. But, OK, now we look at other teams and hope they lose points.”
Manchester United take on Watford at Old Trafford in their next Premier League game on Saturday afternoon.
