Zlatan Ibrahimovic sets Man United target

Zlatan Ibrahimovic says Manchester United must only focus on their own games as they bid to get themselves into the top four

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has insisted that Manchester United can only focus on winning their own games as the race for Champions League qualification hots up.

The Red Devils beat Watford 2-0 at Old Trafford on Saturday to continue their push for a top-four finish.

Jose Mourinho has been tasked with steering the Red Devils back into the Champions League following Manchester United’s fifth-placed finish under Louis van Gaal last term.

However, Manchester United are still off the pace in the race for the title and are sixth in the table, 12 points behind leaders Chelsea after this weekend’s round of games.

Ibrahimovic says Manchester United can only focus on their own games as they bid to claw themselves back into contention for a top-four finish.

Speaking to Manchester United’s website after Saturday’s game, Ibrahimovic said: “We know where we are and that we have been stuck in the same position for many months.

“We had it [fifth spot] for 20 minutes perhaps and we are back in the same position now, but we know what we need to do. We need to keep winning to climb in the table and hope the others lose points and we can go past them.”

Manchester United now turn their attentions towards their Europa League last-32 tie against Saint-Etienne on Thursday night.
