The Spanish midfielder has found his first-team opportunities to be somewhat restricted this season following Conte’s arrival as the club’s new manager last summer.
Fabregas has started most of Chelsea’s Premier League games on the bench this term but has earned plenty of praise for his performances when coming on for the Blues.
Conte has largely preferred to deploy N’Golo Kante and Nemanja Matic in central midfield for the west London side this season.
And the Italian manager has lifted the lid on his thinking behind those tactics.
Speaking at his pre-match news conference at Stamford Bridge on Friday, Conte said: “He’s technically very good and can put the ball wherever he wants it.
“He’s a great player. Often he’s decisive with a pass, with an assist, and scoring a goal.
“Cesc gives you great quality, great fantasy, and assists. It’s important to understand when it’s right to play with Cesc or with Nemanja Matic.
“Nemanja is more physical, more technical, less fantasy than Cesc. Cesc has more fantasy but is less physical.”
Chelsea are currently the heavy favourites to win the Premier League title this season following Conte’s appointment at Stamford Bridge last summer.
The Blues are also through to the FA Cup semi-finals, where they will face Tottenham Hotspur next month.
