Nemanja Vidic is backing Paul Pogba to enjoy a brilliant second season at Manchester United after a quiet start to life back at Old Trafford for the Frenchman.

The midfielder opted to rejoin the Red Devils from Juventus last summer for a world-record transfer fee as Jose Mourinho bolstered his squad following his appointment at Old Trafford.

Pogba has struggled to produce his best form for Manchester United so far this season despite showing glimpses of greatness throughout the campaign.

And former Manchester United star Vidic is certain that Pogba will find his best form under Mourinho next season at Old Trafford.

Vidic told the Beyond the Pitch show: “I think it’s difficult when people see Pogba and expect him to do something which is not his game.

“I think he has done some good stuff this season, of course he didn’t give his best but he played 40 matches which is important as well; his presence on the pitch. As a midfield player, you need someone who is powerful, tall and a presence in the middle of the park.

“I’m sure next season he will be even better.”
