The former Newcastle striker hails Chelsea's brilliant 3-2 win against Tottenham at Wembley on Saturday afternoon
Alan Shearer felt that Chelsea deserved their place in the FA Cup final after a 4-2 win against Tottenham Hotspur.
The Premier League leaders edged one step closer to a brilliant double in their first season under Antonio Conte after Chelsea came out on a top in a six-goal thriller at Wembley.
Willian started the semi-final clash ahead of Eden Hazard and the Brazil international broke the deadlock with a superb free-kick in the fifth minute.
Harry Kane levelled the FA Cup clash with a deft header before Willian restored Chelsea’s lead from the penalty spot after Son Heung-min brought down Victor Moses.
Dele Alli restored parity in the second half with a close-range finish before Hazard came off the bench to edge Chelsea into a 3-2 lead with 14 minutes to go.
And the Belgian star teed up defensive midfielder Nemanja Matic to score a wonder goal and secure Chelsea’s place in the FA Cup final.
Speaking to BBC Sport about the pulsating FA Cup semi-final, Shearer said:
“It was a brilliant game of football. Chelsea deserved it. They were dogged and determined. We talked about the decision to leave, in particular, Hazard out but Conte had the firepower to come on off the bench.”
