Antonio Conte reacts to Diego Costa’s display in Chelsea’s 3-1 win at Bournemouth
Antonio Conte reflected on Diego Costa's performance for Chelsea during their 3-1 win over Bournemouth on Saturday
Antonio Conte singled out Diego Costa for special praise after Chelsea’s 3-1 win over Bournemouth but stressed that the striker must continue to work hard.
The forward netted the visitors’ opener on Saturday evening when his shot was deflected in early in the game.
Eden Hazard then scored another goal shortly after, before Marcos Alonso made it three in the second half with a curling free-kick, after Joshua King had pulled one back for the hosts on the stroke of half-time.
Costa has been one of Chelsea’s most influential players this season but has struggled to find the net in recent weeks.
However, Conte wants to see more from the striker between now and the end of the season.
Speaking at his post-match news conference on Saturday, Conte said: “I’m happy with his performance. In this moment, Diego is not scoring but he’s totally involved in the team.
“He helped provoke the first goal. He must continue to work in this way with great desire and work-rate and I’m sure he can score in every game.”
Chelsea now turn their attentions towards preparing for their crunch Premier League clash against Manchester United at Old Trafford next Sunday afternoon.
