Antonio Conte replies when asked if he’ll watch Tottenham before Chelsea clash
Antonio Conte says he'll be keeping a close eye on Tottenham's fortunes before Chelsea's game on Saturday
Antonio Conte has revealed that he will be keeping a close eye on Tottenham’s fortunes when they play Watford on Saturday.
Spurs have the chance to close the gap down the Premier League leaders down to four points before the Blues take on Bournemouth later in the day.
Tottenham left it late to secure the three points when they came from behind to seal a 3-1 win at Swansea City last week to keep the pressure on Chelea.
Chelsea, meanwhile, head into their clash with Bournemouth on the back of their impressive 2-1 win over Manchester City on Wednesday night.
Conte was quizzed for his thoughts on Tottenham ahead of this weekend’s round of games and the Chelsea boss delivered an honest verdict.
Speaking at his pre-match news conference at Cobham on Friday, Conte said: “No I don’t think it’s an advantage [Tottenham playing before Chelsea] because if they win, lose or draw it’s the same, we have a good pressure.
“For us it’s very important to look at ourselves. Tottenham’s result is important but ours is the most important thing.
“This race is open. I think now I can see two teams, Chelsea and Tottenham, but anything can happen. There are 24 points to play for and other teams can enter the race.”
Chelsea are looking to win a Premier League and FA Cup double in Conte’s first season in charge at the club, with the Blues set to take on Tottenham in the semi-finals at Wembley later this month.
