Jamie Carragher reacts to Arsenal’s 2-1 win at Middlesbrough
Jamie Carragher has his say after Arsenal's 2-1 win over Middlesbrough on Monday night
Jamie Carragher hailed a massive win for Arsenal after the Gunners sealed a 2-1 victory over Middlesbrough to keep their top-four hopes alive.
Alexis Sanchez broke the deadlock on the stroke of half-time with a brilliant dipping free-kick to send Arsene Wenger’s men 1-0 up at the break.
However, Alvaro Negredo levelled for the home side five minutes after the break.
But Arsenal were soon in front again, when Mesut Ozil drilled home Aaron Ramsey’s short pass in the 71st minute to wrap up the three points.
Carragher was highly critical of Arsenal after last week’s 3-0 loss at Crystal Palace but talked up the importance of the win for Wenger’s men after the game.
Speaking on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football, Carragher said: “It wasn’t a great performance from Arsenal but it’s more important to get the result. It was a huge win.
“They were never going to be at they’re best Arsenal because of the run that they’ve been on.”
Arsenal take on Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-finals at Wembley on Sunday afternoon as they look to end the season with some silverware.
The Gunners are now in sixth place in the Premier League table.
