Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka has been one of the worst signings of all time, according to Tony Cascarino.

The Swiss midfielder joined the north London side from Borussia Monchengladbach last summer and has been a regular fixture in the Arsenal starting line-up.

However, Xhaka has failed to produce consistent performances for the north London club despite making 24 Premier League appearances for Arsene Wenger’s men.

The 24-year-old has scored just one goal in the Premier League for the Gunners, with Arsenal currently sixth in the Premier League table.

Summer signing Lucas Perez has also found his first-team opportunities to be severely restricted this season.

And Cascarino has clearly been extremely disappointed by Xhaka’s lack of impact at The Emirates this season.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Cascarino said: “Arsenal spent over £90m in the summer and none of the signings have proven themselves.

“Lucas Perez has hardly had a kick, he’s in and out of the team. He looks a good player but just doesn’t play often enough.

“Granit Xhaka has been one of the worst signings of the season. Maybe the worst of all time? He’s been very poor.”
