Tony Gale has told Arsenal that the north Londoners will miss out on a top-four finish this season.

The Gunners kept their fading Champions League qualification hopes alive on Monday night with a 2-1 win over Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium.

That win lifted Arsene Wenger’s men up to sixth place in the Premier League table but still left them facing a battle to break back into the top four.

The Gunners know that if they win their two games in hand they will move to within three points of third-placed Liverpool.

However, Gale is not expecting to see Wenger’s men be able to get back into the top four before the season is out.

“I wasn’t convinced [on Monday night]. People talk about turning it around but there were still lots of its and buts about their performance,” Gale told Sky Sports News HQ.

“It wasn’t a normal Arsenal performance. It was a good team for Arsenal to face. Top four means winning every game, and they won’t do it. This will be the season they don’t finish in the top four.”
