Arsenal star ready to commit future to club by signing new contract – report
Mesut Ozil is reportedly ready to sign a new contract to keep him at Arsenal beyond 2018
Mesut Ozil is ready to hand Arsenal a much-needed boost by signing a new contract with the club, according to reports.
The Daily Express is reporting that Ozil is ready to put pen to paper on a new deal to keep him at the north London side beyond the summer of 2018.
Ozil and Alexis Sanchez’s situations at Arsenal have been relentless sources of speculation in recent weeks due to the fact that both players have entered into the final 15 months of their deals and no official announcement about their futures have been made.
The report states that Ozil has been holding out for an offer of wages of around £250,000 a week, but that he may be willing to settle for a number slightly lower than the quarter-of-a-million mark.
The news, if true, would come as a welcome boost to Arsenal, who have been in dismal form in recent weeks.
The Gunners head into their crunch clash against Middlesbrough in the Premier League on Monday night having only won two of their last eight top-flight games.
