Robert Pires is backing Arsenal to beat Chelsea and win the FA Cup this season.

The north London side secured their spot in the showpiece next month thanks to a 2-1 comeback win over Manchester City at Wembley in the semi-final last weekend.

Chelsea, meanwhile, are chasing a domestic double of FA Cup and Premier League after they sealed a 4-2 win over Tottenham in last weekend’s semi-final clash.

For Arsenal, the FA Cup represents their last chance of silverware this season after the north London side were knocked out of all other cup competitions and dropped out of the top four in the Premier League.

However, the Gunners have enjoyed success in the competition in recent years and won the trophy in both 2014 and 2015.

And Arsenal legend Pires is expecting to see his former side claim the victory when they take on Chelsea at Wembley next month.

Pires told bwin: “It will be an incredibly difficult game, Chelsea are a fantastic team, but this is a final – it’s one game.

“It’s important the players and the fans forget about the result at Stamford Bridge earlier in the season. This is Wembley, it’s a final.

“I think we will win the final, but Chelsea will be champions of England. We can play at a very high level in any game and I’m very confident.”
