Paul Merson delivers his prediction for Arsenal's FA Cup semi-final clash against Manchester City at Wembley
Paul Merson has admitted that he cannot envisage seeing Arsenal beat Manchester City in Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final clash at Wembley.
It has been a largely disappointing start to 2017 for Arsene Wenger’s men, with the Gunners having been dumped out of the Champions League and dropping out of the top four in the Premier League after a miserable run of results.
Manchester City are on course to finish in the top four in Pep Guardiola’s first season in charge at the club but the FA Cup is their last hope of a trophy this season.
However, former Arsenal star Merson is not expecting to see the Gunners beat Manchester City on Sunday.
Writing in his column for The Daily Star: “I can’t really see that happening [Arsenal beating Manchester City].
“Look at how they’ve capitulated in games this season. If they do that again, Wenger will be under all sorts of pressure.”
Arsenal finished second and without a trophy last season but won the FA Cup in both 2014 and 2015.
The Gunners have not lifted the Premier League trophy since their famous unbeaten triumph in the 2003-04 season.
