Arsene Wenger: Chelsea result has not changed my thinking about Arsenal
Arsene Wenger insists that Arsenal's preparations for their trip to Crystal Palace has not been affected by Chelsea's loss last weekend
Arsene Wenger has insisted that Crystal Palace’s win over Chelsea last weekend has not changed his approach to Arsenal’s clash against the Eagles on Monday night.
Sam Allardyce’s men secured a surprise 2-1 win over the Premier League leaders at Stamford Bridge last weekend as Antonio Conte’s men suffered a shock blow to their title hopes.
Chelsea have since bounced back by beating Manchester City and Bournemouth to get their Premier League title bid back on track.
Arsenal finally returned to winning ways with a 3-0 victory over West Ham United at The Emirates in midweek as they boosted their top-four hopes.
However, Wenger has insisted that Chelsea’s loss to Palace last weekend has not changed his thinking about Arsenal’s clash with the Eagles at Selhurst Park.
Speaking at his news conference on Friday, Wenger said: “Look, what was for sure is that it was a big surprise, because they played away from home and overall certainly it was a shock for Chelsea as well.
“But we know I would just say the win of Crystal Palace at Chelsea is in the continuity of what we have seen in the Premier League since the start of the season.
“Surprising results because the difference between the teams has become shorter and smaller, so anything can happen in any game. But it doesn’t change basically my thinking about the game. We know we have to play at our best to win the game.”
Arsenal are looking to break back into the top four this season as they bid to climb the table before the campaign is over.
