Cesc Fabregas has a message for Chelsea boss Antonio Conte
Cesc Fabregas vows to prove himself to Chelsea manager Antonio Conte despite his lack of Premier League starts this season
Cesc Fabregas has admitted that Antonio Conte is unlike any manager he has every played under – but is determined to prove himself to the Chelsea boss.
The Spanish playmaker has found his first-team opportunities to be somewhat restricted this season but has impressed whenever called upon by Conte.
The 29-year-old midfielder has only started nine games in the Premier League so far this season as he has struggled to establish himself in the first team at Stamford Bridge.
Fabregas has played under some of the world’s top managers, including Jose Mourinho, Pep Guardiola and Arsene Wenger.
However, the Spain international has admitted that Conte’s style of management is unlike anything he has ever experienced before.
Speaking to BBC Sport before Saturday’s FA Cup semi-final clash against Tottenham, Fabregas said: “He’s completely different to what I’m used to, to what I’ve experienced in my career.
“It’s another philosophy, another type of football, I had to adapt like everyone else to do what he wants from us.
“I’m just trying to play well when I have the chance and show him I deserve to play.”
Fabregas played the final 16 minutes of Chelsea’s 4-2 win over Tottenham in the FA Cup semi-final on Saturday.
He will be hoping to feature for Chelsea when the Blues return to Premier League action with a home clash against Southampton at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night.
