Pundit reacts to N’Golo Kante’s display in Chelsea’s 3-1 win over Bournemouth
Glenn Hoddle was particularly impressed by N'Golo Kante as Chelsea sealed victory over Bournemouth to take a step closer to the title
Glenn Hoddle chose to single out N’Golo Kante for special praise after the midfielder played a sublime defence-splitting pass to set up Eden Hazard in Chelsea’s 3-1 win over Bournemouth on Saturday.
After Diego Costa had put Chelsea 1-0 up earlier in the game, the midfielder lofted a brilliant ball for Hazard, which the Belgian confidently latched on to and finished in style to make it 2-0.
Bournemouth pulled a goal back just before the break when Joshua King’s deflect effort beat Thibaut Courtois.
However, Chelsea held on before Marcos Alonso scored a free-kick in the second half to make it back to back wins in the Premier League and take another step towards the title.
Former Tottenham manager Hoddle was particularly impressed by Kante’s contribution in the first half as Chelsea edged towards victory.
Speaking during BT Sport‘s coverage of the game, Hoddle said of Hazard’s first-half strike: “What a goal it was.
“Kante’s ball was so special, it was almost like a Cesc Fabregas pass. The first touch was amazing and it was a wonderful pass to take six players out of the game.”
Chelsea’s win left them seven points clear at the top of the table as they now turn their attentions towards their crunch Premier League clash with Manchester United next weekend.
