Jose Mourinho sends warning to Chelsea ahead of Man United trip
Jose Mourinho warns Chelsea that Manchester United will field their strongest line-up possible at Old Trafford on Sunday
Jose Mourinho has warned Chelsea that Manchester United will field their strongest line-up for their crunch clash at Old Trafford on Sunday.
Manchester United are currently preparing to welcome the table-topping Blues to Old Trafford as they look to keep alive their hopes of finishing in the top four this season.
The Red Devils head into the game on the back of the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final clash against Anderlecht on Thursday night.
Chelsea, meanwhile, have had a full free week to prepare for the game after their 3-1 win at Bournemouth in the Premier League last weekend.
However, despite Manchester United having considerably less time to prepare for the clash against Chelsea, Mourinho has insisted that he will field his strongest team possible against the Blues.
“When it is still mathematically possible to finish in the top four I think if we play against Chelsea with our second team you would kill me. The football country would kill me,” Mourinho told a news conference on Wednesday night.
“There is no reason not to try while it’s mathematically possible.
“If on a certain moment of the season we have no chances to get top four and we are still in the Europa League then nobody can criticise.”
Mourinho was sacked as Chelsea manager in December 2015 before being appointed at Old Trafford last summer as Louis van Gaal’s permanent successor.
