Claudio Ranieri has admitted that he has been hugely impressed by the way Antonio Conte has been able to adapt to the rigours of the Premier League at Chelsea.

The Italian was brought to Stamford Bridge last summer as Jose Mourinho’s permanent successor at Chelsea and has earned plenty of praise for the impact he has had in west London.

Conte switched Chelsea to a 3-4-3 formation earlier in the season after back to back defeats by Arsenal and Liverpool and the Blues have since established themselves as the heavy favourites to win the title this season.

The Chelsea boss has watched his side seal a seven-point lead at the top of the Premier League table as they close in on the title in his first season at the club.

And former Leicester City manager Ranieri has been hugely impressed by what he has seen from the Italian at Stamford Bridge this season.

Speaking on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football, Ranieri said: “I’m very impressed. I was waiting for this [from Conte].

“He had to understand the league and the players. After one month, he understood that he needed to change. The players followed him. That was very important.”
