Frank Lampard sends message to Chelsea fans about Cesc Fabregas
Frank Lampard explains why he was so impressed by Cesc Fabregas' contribution for Chelsea in their 3-0 win over Everton
Frank Lampard has highlighted just what a keen admirer of Cesc Fabregas he is after the Spaniard’s impressive cameo display in Chelsea’s 3-0 win over Everton on Sunday.
The 29-year-old midfielder came on for the final few minutes at Goodison Park and set up fellow substitute Willian for Chelsea’s third goal on Merseyside.
Goals from Pedro Rodriguez and Gary Cahill had put Chelsea 2-0 up before Willian and Fabregas came on against the Toffees.
But former Chelsea star Lampard was thrilled by Fabregas’ contribution to the game following his short stint in the second half.
Speaking on Sky Sports after the game, Lampard said: “I love the way Fabregas runs in behind [for Willian’s goal]. He could easily stay in his position but he doesn’t.
“When he gets there, he has the quality to know that Willian’s there and there was a perfect weight on the ball.”
Fabregas has only started 10 Premier League games this season but has still managed nine assists and four goals.
Chelsea’s lead at the top of the table was cut back down to four points after Tottenham beat Arsenal 2-0 at White Hart Lane later in the day.
The Blues’ next Premier League game is a home clash against Middlesbrough on Monday night at Stamford Bridge.
