Cesc Fabregas has told Tottenham Hotspur that Saturday’s FA Cup semi-final clash with Chelsea will not have any influence on the Premier League title race.

The Blues are preparing to take on the Lilywhites at Wembley on Saturday evening as they look to keep their hopes of securing a domestic double under Antonio Conte this season alive.

Chelsea have stuttered in the Premier League title race in recent weeks and have lost two of their last four games in the top flight to allow Spurs to close the gap to the Blues down to just four points.

However, former Arsenal captain Fabregas doesn’t believe that the game at Wembley will have any impact on the title race this term.

Asked if the game will affect the Premier League run-in, Fabregas told talkSPORT: “No, I don’t think so, because every competition in football is different – you need to focus on different things.

“You are playing to be in a final. You’re not playing for three points, one point, or zero points – so there’s not really a connection in my mind and I think in my team-mates’ mind, between the FA Cup and the league.

“It’s a big game on a great stage and hopefully we can go through.”
