Ian Wright: This Chelsea star is worrying me ahead of Tottenham clash
Ian Wright says Diego Costa's slump in form should be a big worry ahead of the FA Cup semi-final against Tottenham
Ian Wright has claimed that Diego Costa’s recent slump in form should be a major worry for Chelsea heading into their crunch clash against Tottenham in the FA Cup this weekend.
Costa played the full 90 minutes but was unable to prevent the west London side from slumping to a 2-0 loss to Manchester United at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Sunday.
The Spain international has been one of Chelsea’s top performers this season and has scored 17 goals in the Premier League for Antonio Conte’s men.
However, the 28-year-old has only scored one goal in his last seven appearances for the west London side.
And Arsenal legend Wright feels that Costa’s slump is a cause for concern for Chelsea ahead of their FA Cup semi-final against Spurs on Saturday evening.
Speaking to BBC Sport’s 606 podcast, Wright said: “The main concern I have Chelsea is Diego Costa. He is someone they need.
“When they did play against West Brom, he refused to lose. I don’t see that him any more.
“When Costa focuses on being the focal point of the team, he plays a lot better. He isn’t doing that and it affects Eden Hazard’s game and Chelsea.”
Chelsea have seen their lead at the top of the Premier League table cut to four points after their loss to Manchester United.
