Marcos Alonso believes that all players would want to play for a club like Chelsea.

The Spanish defender is currently approaching the end of his first season at Stamford Bridge after he signed for the Blues from Fiorentina last summer.

Alonso has been a regular fixture in Antonio Conte’s starting line-up and has earned plenty of praise for his performances for the west London side this term.

The 26-year-old has scored five goals and made two assists in 26 Premier League games so far this term to help Chelsea top the Premier League table.

And the Spaniard has revealed how thrilled he is to be playing for one of the Premier League’s top clubs.

Alonso told Chelsea magazine: “I think there is a great team here.

“We have to fight for every trophy and with the quality we have, the spirit we have and the way we are working, this is the place we have to be.

“Every player wants to play in a big team like Chelsea.

“The team is working great and if we combine all that hard work with the quality we have here then we will keep going in the right direction.”

Alonso will be expecting to feature when Chelsea return to Premier League action on Sunday afternoon with a crunch clash against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

The defender scored Chelsea’s third goal with curling free-kick during the Blues’ 3-1 win over Bournemouth last weekend.
