N’Golo Kante has revealed that Chelsea’s players greeted him with a round of applause at the club’s Cobham training ground on Monday after he was voted as the PFA player of the year.

The French midfielder scooped the prize ahead of his team-mate Eden Hazard following his brilliant start to life at Stamford Bridge.

Kante has been one of Chelsea’s most consistent performers this season since his arrival at the club from Leicester City last summer.

His brilliant displays have helped the west London club top the Premier League table and reach the FA Cup final.

And the 26-year-old has lifted the lid on the special reception he was given by his team-mates at Cobham this week.

Kante told Chelsea’s website: “They gave me a round of applause and that’s very important because without them I couldn’t receive this award.

“We are having a good season together and I hope we can achieve something bigger than this award because I think football is about sticking together, and if we can win the league or win the cup it will be amazing for the team, for the club and for the fans.”

Chelsea will take on Arsenal in the FA Cup final next month after they booked their spot in the final by beating Tottenham 4-2 at Wembley on Saturday afternoon.
