Robert Pires sends message to Chelsea fans about N’Golo Kante
Robert Pires tells Chelsea fans that they are extremely lucky to have a player like N'Golo Kante
Robert Pires has admitted that he is a huge admirer of N’Golo Kante and says he has been hugely impressed by what he has seen from the midfielder at Chelsea.
The Frenchman has earned plenty of new admirers following his strong performances for Chelsea this season and has been a regular fixture in the Blues’ side.
Kante has helped Chelsea top the Premier League table and has been rewarded for his fine displays by winning the PFA player of the year award.
The 26-year-old joined Chelsea from Leicester City last summer after helping the Foxes win the Premier League title in 2015-16.
And Arsenal legend Pires has explained just why he is such a huge fan of Kante.
Speaking to bwin, Pires said: “I would like to congratulate N’Golo Kante on his award and the last two seasons. It’s a remarkable story.
“His biggest asset is his consistency and regularity. He rarely misses any games, he’s always available for selection and he’s incredibly consistent in his performances, he very rarely has a bad game.
“He’s an incredibly intelligent player and his interceptions and tackles are a result of reading the game and being in the right places at the right times. You can’t learn that, you either have a knack for it or you don’t.
“He is like Gilberto Silva, in French we say he is a player in the shadow. You don’t necessarily notice them until they’re not there.
“In my opinion, everyone talks about Diego Costa and Eden Hazard because they score and create beautiful goals and the job N’Golo does isn’t necessarily beautiful, but it’s an art.”
Kante will be hoping to start for Chelsea when the Blues return to Premier League action on Sunday afternoon with a tricky trip to Everton.
Antonio Conte’s men will move seven points clear at the top of they win that game ahead of Tottenham v Arsenal later in the day.
