Rio Ferdinand believes he knows the secret to Chelsea’s success under Antonio Conte this season – repetition.

The Blues have established themselves as the firm favourites to win the Premier League title this season after the appointment of Conte at Stamford Bridge last summer.

Conte watched his side take another step towards winning the Premier League title on Wednesday night when they sealed a 2-1 win over Manchester City.

That victory left the west London side seven points clear at the top of the table as they prepare for their trip to Bournemouth on Saturday evening.

And Ferdinand has explained what he believes to be the secured to the Blues’ success under their new manager this term.

Speaking on BT Sport on Wednesday night, Ferdinand said: “What I’ve heard is Conte is so demanding of the players in terms of tactical awareness.

“He’s on the training ground doing repetition, repetition, repetition.

“When players come to games on a Saturday, to midweek, they can do this with their eyes closed. They’ve seen it day in, day out at the training ground.

“It can get boring. Steven Gerrard and I have done it with England and we used to sigh.

“It was like ‘tactical, tactical, tactical’.

“But when it comes to game-time, when they’re confident and they’re winning, it comes into play.”

Chelsea will look to claim another three points when they take on Bournemouth this weekend.

The Blues are chasing a domestic double this season and will take on Tottenham in the FA Cup semi-finals later this month.
