Mark Lawrenson is backing Chelsea to win the Premier League title ahead of Tottenham and Manchester City this season.

Chelsea have been the Premier League’s top performing team this season following the appointment of Antonio Conte at Stamford Bridge last summer.

The west London side are currently four points clear of second-placed Spurs as the season heads into its final five games.

Chelsea will continue their title bid on Sunday afternoon when they travel to Everton, before Tottenham host Arsenal in the crunch north London derby clash at White Hart Lane.

However, former Liverpool man Lawrenson is expecting to see Chelsea win the title ahead of Spurs this season.

Lawrenson told BBC Sport: “I think Manchester City will finish third, behind Chelsea and Tottenham, but the race for fourth could go into the final week and even the last day of the season.”

Chelsea’s dramatic upturn in form this season has been in stark contrast to their struggles last term, when they ended up 10th and without a trophy.

Tottenham, meanwhile, ended up third last season behind champions Leicester City and second-placed Arsenal.
