Steve McManaman has urged Tottenham to keep the pressure up on Chelsea as the Premier League title race reaches its conclusion.

The Lilywhites continued their good form on Saturday when they thrashed Watford 4-0 at White Hart Lane to close the gap to Chelsea down to four points.

However, the west London club responded later in the evening when they sealed a 3-1 win at Bournemouth to keep their seven-point lead at the top of the table.

Tottenham were Leicester City’s closest challengers last season before their late slump allowed Arsenal to finish second above them in third.

And Liverpool legend McManaman has talked up the importance of Tottenham enjoying a strong finish to the season – even if they are not able to catch Chelsea.

Speaking on BT Sport’s Premier League Tonight show, McManaman said: “If Chelsea are going to win the league then it’s important that Tottenham finish a very strong second.

“They faltered last season and I don’t think there’s any pressure on Tottenham this season.

“This year they’ve been excellent, I just want them to finish strongly and keep putting the pressure on Chelsea.”
