Gary Neville believes that the weekend’s Premier League results will have put a seed of doubt in the minds of Chelsea’s players.

The Blues saw their lead at the top of the table cut to seven points after they suffered a surprise 2-1 loss to Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

That result allowed Tottenham to capitalise and gain ground on the Blues as the race for the title took a fresh twist.

Chelsea are now preparing for their crunch Premier League clash against Manchester City at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night as they look to get back to winning ways in the top flight.

And although former Manchester United defender Neville still feels that the Blues are in the driving seat to win the title this season, he says Chelsea’s players will be feeling under slightly more pressure heading into Wednesday’s game.

Speaking to Sky Sports News HQ on Monday morning, Neville said: “It’s put a seed of doubt [in Chelsea’s minds].

“It was inconceivable to think that Chelsea were going to go the whole season without some type of dropped points. They were always going to lose one game or two.

“Chelsea will drop more points, there’s no doubt about that because they’ve got some tough games coming up but can the other capitalise? Are the other teams capable of going on the run that’s required to be able to catch them?

“Chelsea have got Man City, Bournemouth away and then Man United away. You think something significant will have to happen in those three matches – and if it did, maybe the others could mount a challenge. Tottenham are the best placed.”
