Antonio Conte had no choice but to admit that Manchester United were the better team after Chelsea’s 2-0 loss to the Red Devils on Sunday.

Conte could only watch from the sidelines as his team suffered a demoralising defeat at Old Trafford following goals in each half from Marcus Rashford and Ander Herrera.

The defeat blew the Premier League title race wide open again, with Chelsea’s lead at the top now just four points following Tottenham’s 4-0 win over Bournemouth on Saturday.

Conte looked visibly demoralised after the final whistle at Old Trafford and the Italian was forced to admit that his team were outplayed by Jose Mourinho’s men in Sunday’s game.

Speaking at his post-match news conference, Conte said: “We didn’t play a good game, and United deserved to win the game because they showed more desire, ambition and motivation.

“It’s very simple, but in this case it is the fault of the coach. It means the coach wasn’t able to transfer the right concentration, motivation, desire and ambition to win this game.”

Conte now has the task of getting his side ready for their crunch FA Cup semi-final showdown against Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley on Saturday afternoon.
