Michael Owen states his prediction for Chelsea v Man City
Michael Owen looks ahead to Chelsea's crunch clash with Manchester City at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday
Michael Owen is backing Chelsea to get their Premier League title bid back on track by beating Manchester City at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.
The Blues head into the game looking to return to winning ways after they suffered a shock 2-1 loss to Crystal Palace in front of their home fans last weekend.
That surprise result allowed Tottenham to close the gap to the leaders down to seven points and hand them some faint hope of catching Chelsea in the race for the title.
However, former Liverpool striker Owen is fully expecting to see the Blues get their title bid back up and running by beating Manchester City at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.
Writing in his column for BetVictor, Owen said: “Chelsea haven’t lost back-to-back home games in the PL since the Andre Villas-Boas era in November 2011 and I don’t expect them to lose two on the spin under Antonio Conte.
“The neutral would love to see a City win which might breathe new life into the title race, but I was disappointed with City especially in the second half at The Emirates on Sunday and they will have to defend better at the Bridge if they are to get anything from the league leaders.”
Chelsea are currently seven points clear at the top of the Premier League table as they also chase the FA Cup.
The Blues will take on Tottenham in the FA Cup semi-finals latest this month as they look to secure a domestic double in Antonio Conte’s first season in charge at the club.
