Paul Merson is backing Chelsea to ease to a comfortable 3-1 win against Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

The Premier League leaders suffered a setback last weekend after a surprise 2-1 loss to relegation-threatened Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

The Eagles cancelled out Cesc Fabregas’s opening goal thanks to efforts from Christian Benteke and Wilfried Zaha at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea remain seven points clear of their closest title rivals Tottenham Hotspur after Spurs were 2-0 winners against Burnley.

Antonio Conte’s side have only lost two games in their last 23 outings in the Premier League to leave the west London side well clear at the top.

Speaking to Sky Sports ahead of the top-four clash at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night, former Arsenal midfielder backed Chelsea to beat Manchester City.

“I just don’t see how Man City are going to contain Chelsea. They’re all over the place at the back at the moment. I think Chelsea will bounce back here,” Merson said.

“Which Man City are we going to get? The great Man City from the first 15 minutes against Arsenal, where they ripped them to shreds?

Chelsea won the Premier League title in 2014-15 but finished in tenth place last term after a disappointing defence of their Premier League title.

The west London side played out a goalless draw with Chelsea in the Premier League at the Etihad Stadium earlier this season.
