Chris Smalling sends message to Marcus Rashford about goal in Man United’s 3-0 win
The Manchester United defender never lost faith in the England striker despite his Premier League goal drought
Chris Smalling has congratulated Marcus Rashford on ending his Premier League goal drought in Manchester United’s 3-0 win at Sunderland on Sunday afternoon.
Jose Mourinho spoke about the England striker’s lack of confidence in front of goal following his energetic performance in a 1-1 stalemate with Everton at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.
Rashford was a 65th-minute substitute at the Stadium of Light upon Manchester United’s return to Premier League action on Sunday.
And the 19-year-old centre-forward ended his goal drought in style with the visitors’s third goal in the 89th minute to seal a comfortable win against the Premier League’s basement club.
Rashford’s effort was his first goal since finding the back of the net in Manchester United’s 4-1 win against defending champions Leicester City at Old Trafford back in September.
The England international has now scored four times in 25 games in the Premier League under Mourinho this season.
And Manchester United defender Smalling took to Instagram to dedicate a message to his England colleague after Rashford’s long-awaited Premier League goal.
