Chris Waddle felt Chelsea were more clinical than Tottenham Hotspur despite Spurs’ dominant performance in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley.

The Premier League leaders were 4-2 winners against their title rivals in what was a pulsating cup clash between the two London sides at the home of English football.

Willian, who started ahead of Chelsea’s number 10, broke the deadlock with a superb free-kick in the fifth minute before Harry Kane levelled with a deft header eight minutes later.

The Brazilian midfielder restored Chelsea’s lead with a penalty before Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli netted an equaliser at the start of the second half.

Antonio Conte turned to Eden Hazard in the second half and the Belgian came off the bench to restore Chelsea’s lead with 14 minutes remaining.

And Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic secured their spot in the FA Cup final at Wembley thanks to a superb long-range strike.

Speaking to BBC Sport about the six-goal thriller in the semi-final on Saturday evening, Waddle said:

“For long periods Tottenham were the better side, but the game turned when Eden Hazard came on. Chelsea used all their experience and were well organised.

“Credit Tottenham who gave everything that had, but it just wasn’t to be.

“We didn’t predict that game would be as enjoyable as it was. You can see now on the pitch how much respect there is between the two teams.

“As for Matic’s strike, there are times when you hit the ball and you can’t believe how clean a strike it was. When it happens, and when it flies into the top corner in off the crossbar, then you know it’s your day.”
