Mark Lawrenson states surprise prediction for Crystal Palace v Arsenal
The former Liverpool defender is backing Crystal Palace to secure a draw against Arsenal at Selhurst Park on Monday night
Mark Lawrenson believes Arsenal will be held to a frustrating 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Monday night.
The Gunners will make the short trip to Selhurst Park in search of back-to-back Premier League victories after ending their winless run mid-week.
Goals from Mesut Ozil, Theo Walcott and Olivier Giroud sealed a 3-0 win against West Ham United at The Emirates to help kick-start their ailing top-four bid.
Palace, meanwhile, had won four Premier League games on the bounce before a 3-1 loss to Southampton on Wednesday despite leading in the first half at St Mary’s.
Former Liverpool defender Lawrenson is backing Palace to get a point against their London rivals Arsenal at Selhurst Park on Monday night.
“Arsenal made short work of West Ham on Wednesday but going to Selhurst Park will be a completely different test for the Gunners,” Lawrenson said.
“Crystal Palace are still in the relegation dogfight despite winning four games in a row before Wednesday’s defeat at Southampton and they will be determined to get something from this game.
“If you offered a home draw to Eagles boss Sam Allardyce before kick-off, he would take it. I think he will get it, too.”
Arsenal are in fifth place in the Premier League table after the Gunners hoisted themselves above Manchester United thanks to a 3-0 win against the Hammers.
The Gunners finished in second place in the Premier League table last term.
