Antonio Conte makes admission to Chelsea fans about Eden Hazard
Antonio Conte says Eden Hazard has stepped his game up at Chelsea this season
Antonio Conte has claimed that Eden Hazard’s improved performances for Chelsea this season have been largely down to an improvement in his mental strength.
The Belgian playmaker has been a key star for the Blues this season and his fine displays have helped Conte’s men top the Premier League table heading into the final five games of the season.
Hazard, like many of his Chelsea team-mates, struggled to produce consistent performances last term as the Blues ended up 10th in the table and without a trophy.
However, the 26-year-old has been one of the driving forced behind Chelsea’s title challenge this term, with Hazard having scored 15 goals in the Premier League so far.
And Conte has been particularly pleased by Hazard’s improved mental resilience this season as he highlighted why he has been so happy with the former Lille star this term.
Conte told a news conference at Cobham on Friday afternoon: “Eden is a great player. He has great talent.
“This season he has improved a lot, not only on the pitch but also he’s becoming mentally stronger.
“At this level it’s very important to have this step because it brings you up with the best players in the world.
“Now, I see a player with good maturity, a player who wants to be decisive.”
Hazard will be expecting to feature when Chelsea take on Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday.
