Mark Lawrenson is backing Chelsea to heap the pressure on Tottenham in the title race by claiming a 2-0 win over Everton on Sunday afternoon.

The Blues head into the game fresh from their 4-2 victory over Southampton at Stamford Bridge last week as Antonio Conte’s men got their title bid back on track.

However, Spurs responded on Wednesday when they sealed a 1-0 win over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park to keep their title hopes alive and leave them four points behind Chelsea with five games left to play.

But former Liverpool man Lawrenson is fully expecting to see Chelsea claim all three points on Sunday afternoon and take another step closer towards winning the title.

Writing in his column for BBC Sport, Lawrenson said: “Everton are on a phenomenal run of form at Goodison Park, where they have won their past eight league games and scored 29 goals.

“But if anyone is going to stop them, it is the league leaders.

“Chelsea are within touching distance of the title now, and I think they will go there and do a job, and expose any weakness or tiredness that Everton have.”
