Wayne Bridge has shed light on the difference between Chelsea manager Antonio Conte and Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola.

The Italian took over the reins of the west London club last summer after Chelsea finished in tenth place in the Premier League last term.

The Blues are sitting at the top of the Premier League table and are in a commanding position thanks to a run of two defeats in their last 23 games.

Manchester City, on the other hand, appointed Guardiola as their new manager after Manuel Pellegrini led the Citizens to a fourth-placed finish.

The Eastlands outfit lost 3-1 to Chelsea in their Premier League meeting at the Etihad Stadium back at the start of December.

Former Chelsea and Manchester City left-back Bridge explained why Conte has the edge over Guardiola after their first season in the English top flight.

“I think Conte has had the edge over Guardiola this season. Chelsea have been outstanding. They’re exciting to watch going forward and he’s made them very solid defensively,” Bridge told BetStars.

“It’s hard to say Pep Guardiola has been a flop after just one season. I love the way he always wants his teams to play attacking football. They need to improve defensively, but I can really see them challenging for trophies next season.”
